Once in a great while a songwriter composes a piece that has an amazing, unique quality that causes it to last and last and last, blessing generation after generation. It goes beyond time and touches hearts with poignancy and, at the same time with hope. Personally, I believe this song is one of those unique compositions. I’ve said it in the past, and I’m saying it again today — and I’m very likely to say it again in the future. In my humble opinion, this song by Irving Kahal and Sammy Fain is the greatest love song ever written.
