Please, won’t you come along with me
Up river in the fall?
We’ll float at leisure, passing woodlands
Burnished, thick, and tall.
We’ll watch thick clouds give way to sun
That breaks horizon’s crest
And choose a course that guarantees
Delightful Autumn Rest.

It’s been difficult to find time to post much lately. But today, I was looking at this picture and enjoying it so much that I had to write a little ditty. This picture just makes me happy. I like to credit the artists, even when they post their work on a site like Pixabay, which requires no attribution. This particular graphic artist has an identity that totally matches the picture: Happy_Life. So without further ado, let me offer you this little moment of happiness in the middle of your day.
Happy mountains, happy snow.
Happy trees in sunrise glow.
Happy artist, giving joy;
Happy colors he’s employed.
I gaze upon this landscape free
And bask in its serenity.
It soaks into the heart of me,
A happy day to guarantee.
Wild and free they fly;
Intoxicating grandeur:
Autumn’s final fling.

A gate to wherever your imagination wants to take you.

I passed an old church, yesterday, of rough-hewn stones.
Of granite gray, each brick had been laid in with care,
But through the years they’d become slightly lichen-grown.
All the windows high and low had been enclosed
With wooden shutters, tightly fitted and secure.
In silence and gray mystery the church reposed.
But on the north, a wooden door of deepest red
Did beckon me to contemplate what lay within.
And without conscious thought right to it I was led.
I pondered on the stories this old red door could tell.
And though the steps that led to it were now long gone,
I worked to get inside so as to explore things well.
It’s roughened texture spoke of years of weathering,
But all my efforts to make entry were in vain.
Alas … I’ll have to leave its past to imagining.

Daisies are the happiest flower in this world.

I love the scent of meadows warmed by sun,
And bumble-bee’s mesmorizing hum;
Hedgerows heavy, looking overgrown
Around fields ripening from seeds well-sown;
Sky of deepest technicolor blue;
A solitary, gliding bird in view.
Of such rich pleasures what else can I say?
It’s just another dandelion day.

My favorite photographer — Terry Valley — has done it again: captured a once-in-a-lifetime shot. He couldn’t have set this scene up if he’d tried.

To look out on a new year bright with promise,
With unmarred paths that hopeful feet may take —
It gives my heart a thrill, and I’m enchanted
By all the choices I’m allowed to make.
And even though I know there will be pitfalls
And hurdles now and then that must be cleared.
I know my heart will hear the Lord’s direction,
And nothing up ahead needs to be feared.
For in my own decisions rests my future.
It isn’t luck or happenstance or fate.
And this new year before me bright with promise —
I’ll boldly grasp it, and I’ll make it great.

My day
Started out gray.
But sunlight filtered through,
And, taking over, changed my day
To gold.

Jewels sparkle, chemically whitened teeth sparkle, and champagne sparkles. But the most beautiful sparkle of all is that created by nature when beauty touches beauty in just the right time and place. The following photos captured some of those events. Two are courtesy of Terry Valley (Visons Seen Photography), and the rest are mine. I was amazed that the camera actually captured the sparkles in the snow.
